Regional events share in new cash pool
Bendigo Regional Tourism has awarded $70,000 in grants to 16 events across the City of Greater Bendigo, Mount Alexander, Central Goldfields and Loddon shires.
Bendigo Regional Tourism chairperson Paula Nixon said the new grants aimed to support the good work community organisations and individuals did to attract visitors to the region.
She said more than 60 events expressed interest in the grants, which made the final decisions a tough one for the board.
“The sheer number and quality of submissions we received just goes to prove how many wonderful events are being staged right across our region every year,” Ms Nixon said.
“Preference in this round was given to events with a capacity to draw in tourists from not only the local region, but Melbourne, interstate and even international areas. We know our region has a lot to offer visitors and our rich calendar of events is the perfect vehicle to draw people in and showcase our strengths.”
