Queensland to test public happiness
The Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government have released a new tool to helop the state’s councils gauge the happiness of the state’s citizens.
The Community Wellbeing Indicators Survey is part of a campaign to help councils improve community planning, measure community wellbeing and strengthen citizen engagement.
LGAQ Chief executive Greg Hallam said the survey tool would allow councils to measure community happiness and satisfaction in relation to council services in a standardised way.
'The index will provide a local snapshot which will feed into a broader state picture of our over-all happiness and wellbeing as Queenslanders,' he said.
'It is particularly timely in light of the development of the Queensland Plan and the insight it will provide state and federal government on funding and policy areas in need of greater funding and attention'.
