Darebin City Council is looking for an energetic and highly motivated Senior Transport Planner / Urban Designer to join our progressive Environment and Sustainable Transport team. We have a dedicated sustainability focus and work hard to support and develop safe and sustainable travel options for our community, while also considering the best the immediate and longer term outcomes for our community.

What the role entails:

• Leading on the development of the Streets for People program of works where streets are redesigned to prioritise people walking and riding
• Applying creative problem solving to complex problems, aiming for holistic, sustainable outcomes that achieve Darebin’s broader community, environmental, transport and urban realm aims.
• Provide professional, clear, evidence-based advice on transport and urban design matters.
• Developing policy solutions reflecting Darebin’s strategic transport priorities
• Reporting to the Senior Transport Engineer, based in the same office.

Who we are looking for:

• Experience in transport planning and urban design, and have relevant qualifications or experience
• Sound understanding and experience in community engagement for project development
• Strong communication skills, you enjoy working in a team environment, and you are confident in building and leading key partnerships with stakeholders of varying levels.
• Comfortable mentoring junior team members. This role has no direct reports.
