Area to Senior Building Surveyor - Fire Safety

We are seeking a qualified Building Surveyor to assist Council in managing the Annual Fire Safety Statement Program and Awning Safety Program. The position requires you to:

Provide fire safety advice on Development Application for the fire safety upgrade of existing buildings.

Investigate complaints, undertake inspections of buildings, prepare reports and provide advice to key stakeholders, property owners and the community on building fire safety, public health standards and amenity issues.

Oversee the Awning Program for the certification of existing awning that project over the footpath and public spaces.

Work as part of the Development Monitoring Team in accordance with our vision, mission and values when representing Council in a variety of situations.

 

Accredited building certifiers at A1, A2 or A3 level will have the ability to maintain their skills and experience in building certification under Part 4A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.

The successful candidate will have Degree Qualification (or equivalent) in Building Surveying or Building Fire Safety related field; an understanding of the Local Government Act, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards relevant to Fire Safety.

You will have a positive outlook, be committed to providing excellent customer service and be able to demonstrate sound communication, interpersonal, negotiation and report writing skills.

A current White Card (or willingness to obtain) in order to enter building sites.

Current Class C Motor Vehicle Drivers License.
