An exciting opportunity has become available through the establishment of a new Senior Environmental Planner role to provide a high level of professional service to Council and the community with respect to environmental planning and management.

Working from a high level of understanding of relevant legislative requirements and demonstrated experience you will be responsible for providing high level advice and expertise in relation to environmental impact assessment, environmental compliance and environmental management for Council.

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant Degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Environmental Health or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legislation relevant to the position, including Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Threatened Species Conservation Act, Local Government Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act and other environmental legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and review of environmental impact assessment documentation under relevant legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in reviewing flora and fauna surveys as they relate to the development and environmental impact assessment process.
  • Relevant experience in environmental impact assessment and management for large multidisciplinary organisations including capital works providers, infrastructure providers and/or local government or similar.
  • High level of interpersonal skills including negotiation, problem solving, and conflict resolution to enable effective liaison with people at all levels.
  • Good organisational skills and a demonstrated capacity to act independently within established guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective communications with a range of stakeholders with differing viewpoints. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to a customer service culture and delivery of quality service.
  • Current class C drivers licence.

Salary Range:  $75,732 to $88,754 pa (incl. super + retention allowance) + flexitime
