Compliance Officer

Looking to kick start a new career or looking for a change.  Council is recruiting for a Compliance Officer with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.   Applications are invited up until 4.00 pm, Monday 21 November 2016, for the position of Compliance Officer currently based at the Cooma Branch. 

The Appointee will be required to:

  • Be responsible for regulatory functions which include: animal control, local laws, parking control, litter control and school crossing supervision.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret legislation in an enforcement environment
  • Knowledge of Companion Animals Act and other relevant legislation; and Knowledge of the S.E.I.N.S System.
  • Experience and demonstrated confidence in handling companion animals and stock.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and ability to deal with the general public – occasionally in adversarial situations.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and work in a team environment.
  • Current C class driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work outdoors.

Salary and Hours:

This position is classified at Grade 5b (38) by Council’s Salary System, with 'a salary of $1015.40/week. Work hours will be 76 hours over a nine day fortnight. Regular on call and weekend work will be required.
