Urban Forestry Officer

An opportunity exists for an experienced Urban Forestry Officer to join the Urban Forestry team.

Based at the Parks & Open Space Depot in Bellfield, this permanent full-time position presents a great career opportunity for a professional who is passionate about the protection and retention of trees and vegetation in our urban and non-urban environments.

As the Urban Forestry Officer you will oversee the management of Banyule’s tree population through policy creation & implementation, contract management, provision of advice to internal and external stakeholders and providing leadership to Council’s tree care team. 

  • Innovate and implement continuous improvement
  • Conduct risk assessments for trees
  • Audit tree works for quality and compliance
  • Provide efficient and customer focused service to clients
  • Provide advice and written reports on tree assets
  • Perform safety audits of tree crew
  • Assist with management of council’s GIS tree database
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding within service level agreements and in line with Banyule Customer Service Promise

Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma in Arboriculture, ISA TRAQ certified and  Certificate II in ESI - Powerline Vegetation Control.
  • Experience in tree assessment and producing technical tree reports
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing and initiating continuous improvement
  • Experience in implementing and auditing arboriculture programs including electrical line clearance works
  • Demonstrated positive influence for a culture of safety in arboriculture
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and promote a positive team culture
