On behalf of the Council of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, Lester Blades is delighted to invite applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer. The Shire is situated 270kms south of Perth and is well known for its natural beauty, rugged coastline, scenic forests, national parks, caves and world class surf. It is home to a thriving wine and food industry and it is one of WA’s most popular tourist destinations.
Just as importantly, the Augusta Margaret River region is within one of 35 biodiversity hotspots in the world. Council and the community are absolutely committed to protecting and enhancing the fragile environment from climate change and it has mainstreamed both climate action and addressing social injustice throughout its Community Strategic Plan. See www.amrshire.wa.gov.au for further information.
Council is interested in applicants who can demonstrate the full suite of competencies normally expected of someone working at CEO level in an organisation of this size and complexity. Commitment to sustainability (balancing environmental, social, cultural and economic values) and protecting the fragile natural environment are critically important. The CEO must also understand climate change and the need for urgent climate action at a local level.
Council will offer a contract of employment of up to five years duration, with a total annual remuneration package to be negotiated within the SAT’s Band 2 range for Local Government CEO’s from $250,000 to $316,586pa. Intending applicants are advised that a condition of employment will be that the CEO resides within the Shire.
