Moreland City Council is located in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne and is one of the most populous and culturally diverse municipalities. Located in Coburg, Moreland City Council is just 8km from the CBD and offers excellent public transport and cycling access for employees.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Gallery Attendant who enjoys contact with the community and working with a small committed team to assist with the presenting gallery exhibitions and related programs. 

The role which is situated at the Counihan Gallery in Brunswick and is a regular 1pm - 5pm shift on Sundays during exhibition periods with the possibility of working additional shifts at exhibition events and programs, installations or gallery coverage as required.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE

  • Sound knowledge and a proven interest in visual arts practice and presentation are essential.
  • A competent level of computer literacy on PC based systems. 
  • A degree in Art History, Arts Management or Visual Arts is also desirable but not essential.
  • Certificates or qualifications in working with heights and/or working with specialised equipment would be an advantage.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to assist with the receipt, protection, installation and dismantling of exhibition works when required.
  • A sound knowledge of contemporary art practice and issues, especially Australian contemporary art.
