Leading Hand - Maintenance Worker  Parks and Town Services

Package Value $56,369.95 per annum


Council is seeking applications to fill the permanent full time position of Leading Hand Maintenance Worker, Parks and Town Services, in Longreach. Applications will be received until 11 September 2015. Late applications may not be accepted.

The Position
The successful applicant will be responsible for working with a small team and being responsible for the day to day leadership on the job to ensure a variety of activities associated with general maintenance of Council’s Parks and Gardens, Walkways, Cemetery, Public Conveniences, etc is completed.

You will be required to assist with the maintenance and cleaning of plant and equipment. The applicant must have the ability to work in a manner that will provide a safe work environment in accordance with Council’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
Ability to operate a variety of plant including ride on mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, vacuum blowers and the ability to undertake a variety of maintenance jobs in a horticulture environment is required. Sound time management skills and the ability to work with limited supervision is required. A current “MR” class Queensland Licence is essential for this position or the ability to gain license within the probationary period. Knowledge within horticulture environment will be advantageous and your duties will involve leaf blowing, cleaning of structures, rubbish removal, dripper and sprinkler maintenance, mulching, tree planting and weed removal, mowing, and slashing.

Salary and Conditions
The position is classified as a Level 5 of the Local Government Employees (Excluding Brisbane City Council) Award State – 2003 and offers an annual salary inclusive of allowances and leave loading of $51,538.14 per annum. Superannuation of up to 12% of salary is also available upon commencement.
