Manly Council wins Overall Sustainable Council title in Keep NSW Beautiful Awards

 

Manly Council has been crowned most sustainable city in New South Wales in Keep NSW Beautiful’s Sustainable Cities Awards, in recognition of their progressive efforts to create a holistic and comprehensive vision of environmental, economic and social sustainability in their LGA.

Through the Sustainable Cities Awards, Keep NSW Beautiful recognises outstanding achievements for the environment and sustainability in urban communities.

Port Phillip backs asylum seeker statement

 

Port Phillip Councillors this week unanimously supported a joint council statement calling on the Federal Government to abandon its current harsh asylum seeker policies.

The statement was originated by the City of Darebin and now has more than ten signatories, including Port Phillip.


Waste changes and charges could have major ramifications for city


Waste charges and reporting changes proposed by State agencies could have major ramifications for Broken Hill City Council and residents.

If a proposal to impose a waste and environment levy across the state under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act) is accepted it could see additional levies paid by Council of more than $1 million a year.
