Heritage Awards Launched
The Awards recognise development and restorations which maintain or enhance the City’s built environment, acknowledge the City’s unique heritage and contribute to the revitalisation of the City as an attractive place in which to live, work and play.
Any pre-1950s property or listed heritage item within the City may be considered. To be eligible it must be located within the City of Burnside, constructed prior to 1950 and/or a listed heritage item, with work undertaken in the previous five years. The owner of the property must consent to the nomination.
There are four categories and projects can be entered in multiple categories.

Koalas receive a $970,000 windfall at Doonan Creek
Koalas at Sunshine Coast Council’s Doonan Creek Environmental Reserve have been given a hand up and hand out with a $970,000 State Government offset payment.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said offset agreements attempted to compensate for the impact of unavoidable development and turn a negative into a positive.
“For every tree cut down during these developments, a new tree or trees must be planted in a suitable location,” Mayor Jamieson said.
Melbourne the world’s most liveable city… Again!
Melbourne has topped the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Index (EIU) for the fourth consecutive year.
The EIU Liveability Index is the world’s most widely accepted ranking of liveability, comparing 140 of the world’s major cities. Lord Mayor Robert Doyle said Melbourne excelled in the five criteria: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
2014 Warrnambool Small Business Festival
Local entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to fine-tune their business or learn about starting a new one with the third Warrnambool Small Business Festival running throughout August.
The festival will be launched on August 6 at a special Club Wednesday networking function at the Lighthouse Theatre.
The Warrnambool Small Business Festival is presented by Warrnambool City, Moyne and Corangamite Shires and features 20 free or low-cost workshops, seminars and networking functions.
