Tourism Conference for the Hunter
The Local Government NSW Tourism Conference, which is expected to attract more than 200 delegates, will be held in the Hunter Valley in March 2014.
The Conference co-hosted by Cessnock City Council and Destinations NSW provides a platform for councillors and council staff to meet, listen to experts and peers and find out how other councils are engaging and managing their tourism industry.
City of Melbourne stays the course for a sustainable future
The City of Melbourne’s ambition to be one of the world’s most sustainable cities was set out with Council inviting public comment on its draft Zero Net Emissions and Total Watermark strategies.
Lord Mayor Robert Doyle said sustainability and liveability were inexorably linked.

Study delves into options for gold mine site
Work on a feasibility study to identify and assess future uses for the Stawell Gold Mine site is making strong headway.
The $250,000 project is being funded by the federal and state governments and contributions from Northern Grampians Shire Council and Stawell Gold Mines.
A Project Control Group (PCG) has been established to contribute local and industry expertise to the Stawell Gold Mines Future Possibilities Feasibility Study, and has identified five key product streams to investigate. These include tourism products, waste opportunities, training opportunities, industrial uses and commercial recreation uses.
