Regional Road Funding

 

The Southern Tasmanian Councils Authority (STCA) has called for an increase to regional road funding in southern Tasmania. Gathering for an STCA Board meeting in Huonville, Chairman Alderman Damon Thomas said that it was time there was a significant investment made in southern Tasmania’s regional roads.

“There are a number of roads in southern Tasmania that require urgent upgrades and attention. “For too long the focus of infrastructure spending has been in the north of the state and it is time that this imbalance is rectified.


Council grants aid SES

The City of Greater Bendigo will match State Government contributions to provide a total of $70,604 for State Emergency Service units at Bendigo, Heathcote and Marong.

“The City’s contribution will help ease the everyday running costs of these units and will assist the SES in maintaining their facilities and equipment,” City CEO Craig Niemann said.

Gold Coast CBD is open for business


The Queensland Government has declared Southport a Priority Development Area (PDA), in a major boost for the City of Gold Coast’s plans to revitalise Southport as the Gold Coast’s Central Business District (CBD).

The City recently made the PDA request to the Minister for Economic Development Queensland, under the provisions of the State’s Economic Development Act 2012.
