Safety concerns spark park work

 

A request from Energex to reconfigure Brough Place in Daisy Hill will have unintended benefits, as the park will now undergo a redesign, upgrade and facelift.

Concerns about the proximity of current play equipment to overhead powerlines have energised plans for the popular civic space, with Council acting to ensure public safety.


Sunshine Coast: 7% of the state, 20% of the jobs growth


The Sunshine Coast is leading the way in job creation in Queensland.

In 2013, of the 54,000 jobs created across the state, 10,000 – or 20% of them – were created on the Sunshine Coast, according to property guru Michael Matusik.

Mr Matusik said the employment growth came largely through construction and health/medical related areas, with a lesser impact from the retail and tourism sectors.


Cabonne welcomes Review Panel's shared services proposal


Cabonne Mayor Ian Gosper has welcomed the opportunity to be part of a regional joint organisation if the State Government accepts recommendations of a NSW Independent Local Government Review Panel.

The panel’s final report, released 8 January 2014, recommends the formation of a joint organisation encompassing 12 Central West councils to enhance strategic capacity and achieve efficiencies through collaboration and shared services.

Free pool lifeguard training to help reduce drowning risk for new migrants in Banyule

While water safety is a way of life for many Australians, new migrants often lack the knowledge and skills that will keep them safe around water.

A new partnership between Banyule Council’s Youth Services, Lifesaving Victoria and Spectrum Migrant Resource Centre is offering migrants living in Banyule free pool lifeguard training to help prevent future drowning and injuries.
