Council motions put critical local funding on national agenda
Two motions by Wyong Shire Council calling on the Federal Government to promote investment and borrowing for local governments have been unanimously adopted in Canberra this week.
Mayor Doug Eaton OAM represented Council at the 2015 National General Assembly (NGA) of Local Government, a forum for councils to air their views and concerns as well as contribute their own experience and knowledge to debate on a broad set of national issues.
Council submitted two motions at the NGA calling on the Federal Government to put the need for critical local funding on the national agenda.
Darwin Bike Plan
City of Darwin in partnership with the Northern Territory Government has developed a Bike Plan for the Darwin municipality to facilitate and encourage bike riding in Darwin.
The Darwin Bike Plan investigates the different purposes, intensities and people who use the bike network and considers the four major riding functions: commuting, fitness, local trips and recreation.

Planning permit to be lodged for major Stadium expansion
The City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Stadium Ltd have unveiled the final designs for a major $16.5 million extension to the Bendigo Stadium and will lodge a planning permit application for the project in the near future.
Greater Bendigo City Council Mayor Cr Peter Cox said the expansion will transform Bendigo Stadium into one of regional Victoria’s best multi-purpose stadium and events centres and provide the facilities needed by a fast growing city.
