New Focus for 2015 Bendigo Inventor Awards
Applications for the 2015 Bendigo Inventor Awards (BIA) have opened with a bright new focus on emergency services and safety.
Chair of the Bendigo Inventor Awards Committee Paul Chapman said this year’s awards will feature innovator of the year and inventor of the year categories as well as a major prize for ideas or inventions that directly contribute to the challenges the emergency services sector face in our region.
“This year we are shifting the focus of the awards with the backing of our local emergency services,” Mr Chapman said.
SouthWest 2 sale plots course for jobs growth
Logan City Council's long term strategy to drive jobs growth in Logan has received a vote of confidence from the private sector with the recent sale of industrial land in Berrinba.
This week, the 21 hectare site known as SouthWest 2, on the corner of Wembley and Bardon Rds, was sold by Council to property investor The GPT Group for $23.2 million.
Tuck-in to a feast of goodness this NAIDOC Week
One of Australia’s most acclaimed Aboriginal chefs will be firing-up the burners and sharing his bush tucker secrets at a series of free cooking demonstrations to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
Former Watermark chef and television cooking show host, Clayton Donovan, will host three demonstrations at the City of Sydney’s free NAIDOC in the City event on Monday 6 July at Hyde Park North.
Mr Donovan will show Sydneysiders how to whip-up a quinoa and aniseed myrtle dressing, and tomato with bush tomato sauce. These will be served as condiments alongside marinated meats and vegetables cooked in two earth ovens created in the ground at Hyde Park.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the interactive cooking demonstrations and feasting were designed to give people a taste of traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander foods.
Dubbo welcomes commitment to LH Ford Bridge duplication in NSW Budget
Dubbo City Council has welcomed news that $1 million for the planning of the duplication of the LH Ford Bridge in Dubbo was confirmed in the NSW Budget today.
In March 2015 the NSW Government made a $50 million commitment to duplicate the LH Ford Bridge in the current term of Government.
Mayor of Dubbo Councillor Mathew Dickerson said this is great news for Dubbo as it confirms the major construction project to ease congestion for motorists will commence.
