Money for Stadium redevelopment, regardless of who wins on Saturday
Mayor Cr Peter Cox has welcomed an announcement by the Deputy Premier Peter Ryan, confirming a $5M commitment to be put towards the Bendigo Stadium redevelopment.
Cr Cox said the announcement matches that made by the Victorian Labor Party in September and meant no matter who wins on Saturday, there will be funding available to propel the project.
The City of Perth water campaign
Seven office buildings in Perth were the first to be recognised as waterwise offices through the Waterwise Office Program recognition event on Wednesday 26 November at Council House.
The Waterwise Office Program is run by Water Corporation in partnership with the City of Perth and the Property Council of Australia. Buildings participating in the program can be recognised as a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Waterwise Office based on their water savings.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the Waterwise Office Program was designed to help building owners and businesses improve awareness and understanding of water consumption and identify areas where savings could be made.
Council wins grant for estuary work
Hornsby Shire Council’s efforts to save the local estuaries has been boosted by a $74,000 grant from the NSW Government.
“The competition for these grants is very fierce and it’s a sign of the excellent work that’s being done by our staff that we were able to secure part of the funding pie,” Hornsby Shire Mayor Steve Russell said.
“The grant is an acknowledgement of both the strong work that’s been done in the past and our vision for the future.”
Launch of Land for Wildlife workshops in the Tweed
Private landholders play crucial role in biodiversity conservation
A series of Land for Wildlife workshops will be launched by Tweed Shire Council on Saturday, 29 November 2014 at Burringbar Hall. Land for Wildlife is a voluntary property registration scheme that helps private landholders manage wildlife habitat on their property.
The 10 workshops, funded by a National Parks and Wildlife Foundation grant with additional funding by Council, will focus on practical elements of biodiversity conservation for private landholders. Workshops are free and open to everyone.
