Sydney selected as one of the world’s 100 resilient cities
The City of Sydney has been recognised as one of the world’s most forward-thinking cities with an invitation to join a group of 100 global cities that are creating a more secure future for their communities.
Alongside, London, Paris, Chicago and Singapore, the City has been selected to join the 100 Resilient Cities network funded by The Rockefeller Foundation.
100 Resilient Cities is spending US $100 million to make cities better prepared to cope with shocks and strains ranging from climate change to social problems and issues such as housing affordability.
Council and NECMA to work more closely with signing of MOU
Alpine Shire Council and North East Catchment Management Authority (NECMA) are working to strengthen their partnership for the benefit of the environment and local communities.
The organisations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure there is a collaborative effort on projects where objectives overlap.
Council’s Director Infrastructure Services Ian Ellett said the MOU aimed to build on the working relationship between Council and NECMA.
Council receives Grant for Newry Island Bridge Refurbishment
Bellingen Shire Council is thrilled to have secured a specific purpose grant of $600,000 from the NSW Government for the refurbishment of the Newry Island Bridge at Urunga.
In announcing the grant the Minister for Roads and Freight, the Hon. Duncan Gay MLC acknowledged that Council had worked exceptionally well in consulting with the Newry Island residents during the repair project.
Library receives awards for its marketing
Branding of Clarence Valley Libraries as “Your library – your place” has helped the Clarence Valley Council pick up an award for excellence in marketing at the NSW Public Libraries Conference in Mudgee.
The council won the services category and was given an honorable mention in the social media category in the awards.
Mayor, Richie Williamson, said the service category win was for the new branding of Clarence Valley Libraries and the increased usage and awareness of services through the development of branded collateral.
