Wyndham Creates a New Landscape
When building a new house, most people will spend their time considering what colour tiles to use or how big a bedroom should be - not what kind of shrubs to plant. But new guidelines released by Wyndham City aim to assist those residents who will need to submit landscape plans for their new homes.
The ‘Landscape Guidelines’ includes advice on how to submit a Landscape Plan for residential unit and medium density residential redevelopments.
Adelaide Aquatic Centre Moves Toward Sustainable Future
Work is about to start at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre, providing residents and visitors with a modern, energy efficient place to swim, play and socialise.
In partnership with the Federal Government Energy Efficiency Program, the project will see the installation of high efficiency filters, pumps and boilers and the installation of an energy efficient cogeneration plant for heating. The project will ensure better energy management practices are incorporated into the daily operations of the Adelaide Aquatic Centre.
Council streetlights to go LED
Warrnambool will be the first city in regional Victoria to fully replace its residential streetlights with light emitting diode (LED) lamps.
The Warrnambool City Council’s (WCC) 2200 residential mercury vapour streetlights will be replaced with new energy-efficient LEDs by August.
These new lights will cut energy usage by 77 per cent compared to the existing 80-Watt mercury vapour lamps and will considerably reduce running costs.
Five Great South Coast Councils are sharing Federal Government funding of $1.4 million (of which WCC is receiving $400,000) to upgrade a combined 7500 lights.
