Sydney number one for international students
Sydney is the world’s most popular city to study in, according to a new index that shows it attracts more international students than anywhere else.
The global consulting firm AT Kearney put Sydney ahead of 83 other cities, including London and New York, after studying the size of their international student population for its 2014 Global Cities Index.
Sydney is estimated to host 50,000 visiting university students, with another 50,000 studying vocational and English courses. About 35,000 study on campuses in the City of Sydney and more than 10,000 live in the local government area.
Town Square and Stirling Terrace upgrade concept designs endorsed
Albany’s City Centre Revitalisation plans have passed a major milestone thanks to a unanimous Albany City Council decision.
Council voted this week to endorse the concept design plans for both the Town Square Community Space stage one and the Stirling Terrace upgrade stage one, paving the way for construction to begin in earnest. Both projects are funded by Lotterywest and the City of Albany.
Governor to attend Hawkesbury Railway Bridge anniversary
Celebrations marking the 125th anniversary of the Hawkesbury River Railway Bridge continue to grow, with news that the Governor of New South Wales will be attending.
Her Excellency Professor The Honourable Marie Bashir AC CVO Governor of New South Wales has accepted an invitation to the festival on Dangar Island to mark 125 years since the opening ceremony of the Hawkesbury River Railway Bridge.
“We’re very pleased the Governor is going to be at this important event,” Hornsby Mayor Steve Russell said.
Kelly Park lights up
An exciting milestone has been reached today at Kelly Park home of the Carey Park Football Club – new light towers have been erected just in time for the start of the South West Football League season.
About one year ago the club approached Council with a request to have the 40-year-old lighting system replaced.
