Multi-million dollar road repair program nears completion
Contract work on the multi-million dollar Natural Disaster Relief Recovery Arrangements Project (NDRRA) within the Charters Towers Regional Council area is nearing completion.
NDRRA is a Federal Government funded program that includes funds to repair sections of the Charters Towers Regional Council's road network damaged during the extended 2012 wet season.
New $8 million Grafton library ready for opening
Seventy five years to the day he became Australia’s 11th prime minister, Sir Earle Page’s name will return to prominence with the official opening of the new Grafton library.
The $8 million facility was funded through a Federal Government grant, and includes outreach learning facilities for the Southern Cross and New England universities.
New Surveillance Centre supports stronger safer city
The City of Perth is proud to launch its newly redeveloped CCTV Surveillance Centre.
City of Perth Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi said the centre offers additional operational capacity and improved surveillance facilities and is taking the lead in ensuring we keep a close eye on behaviour around the city.
G20 Leaders Summit
In November 2014, Brisbane will host the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders Summit, the principal forum for international economic cooperation and decision-making. Over the days of the event, Brisbane will become capital city of the world, with leaders from the world's most influential economies gathering in our city.
Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 15 and 16 November, the event is expected to attract more than 4000 officials and 3000 media representatives from around the world.
The G20's permanent membership comprises of 19 of the world's most powerful countries plus the European Union. Guest countries including Singapore and New Zealand, and international organisations are also invited to attend. As an annual event, the G20 gives world leaders the chance to share ideas and outline visions regarding key international issues.
G20 is the most significant international event held in Brisbane since the 1982 Commonwealth Games and Expo 88. It will showcase Brisbane as a world class destination for business, tourism, education and events.
