Bendigo on display in Federation Square


Bendigo Tourism has set up an information stand in the Melbourne Visitor Centre located in Federation Square to showcase Bendigo’s arts and cultural heritage to hundreds of state, interstate and international visitors during October.

City of Greater Bendigo Tourism Manager Kathryn Mackenzie said the information stand was set up on October 5 and will continue until October 31 in Federation Square.

“The Melbourne Visitor Centre attracts thousands of visitors from around the world every day and this is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase Bendigo as a must see visitor destination for arts, culture, heritage and food and wine.


Bunbury highly commended for resilience project

 

On Wednesday 8 October the City of Bunbury was honoured with a highly commended award for its resilient communities emergency management project, U-4-72.

The award was presented at the State 2014 Resilient Australia Awards in Perth.

The awards recognise innovative Local Government projects and programs focused on making communities more resilient when facing emergencies and natural disasters.


Calling for Hawkesbury Young People to be heard


Hawkesbury City Council is seeking the input of young people from across the Hawkesbury Local Government Area to be involved in the 2015 Youth Summit Planning Group.

Young people aged 12 to 24, who are passionate about sharing their opinions and dreams for the area are invited to help plan the 2015 Hawkesbury Youth Summit. Volunteers will receive great training and be able to hang out with likeminded young people of the Hawkesbury.


Green Army descends on Maleny Community Precinct


A Green Army has descended on Maleny Community Precinct to continue conservation efforts at the 125ha site.

The Green Army, an  Australian Government initiative, provides an opportunity for young Australians aged 17-24 years to gain training and experience in environmental and heritage conservation fields.

Federal Member for Fisher Mal Brough today (Oct 15) met with Sunshine Coast Divisional Councillor Jenny McKay and Conservation Volunteers Australia members who will be coordinating the Green Army in conjunction with the Council on the precinct.
