Community Groups Receive Funding Assistance

Twenty-one community groups will share in more than $200,000 in funding after the latest round of the Shire of Broome Community Sponsorship Program and EDL West Kimberley Community Donations.

Broome Shire President, Graeme Campbell, said the community sponsorship provided funds to help community-based organisations to develop social, cultural, economic, recreational, environmental and reconciliation projects and initiatives.


Flexible library service here to stay


Yarra Ranges’ new and expanded mobile library service has been given the permanent go-ahead after a successful six month trial.

Following an extensive review of library services, Council announced it would trial a new flexi-service van to replace the ageing B-double library truck.

The new van is able to bring more books to the community while also being flexible enough to deliver a greater range of programs to a wider audience.


Skate place will be the first of its kind in Australia

Wyong Shire Council and Convic will unveil a draft final concept next week for the skate place at Bateau Bay that will take skating in Australia to an international high.


Young film-makers take a bow

Young film-makers were applauded for their outstanding submissions in the 14th annual 24/7 Youth Film Festival Final Awards Night – where winners were announced in 15 categories.

Over 150 people attended the 24/7 Youth Film Festival Final Awards Night on Sunday 27 September, at Warriewood Untied Cinemas.

The 24/7 Youth Film Festival, now in its 14th year, encourages young residents of Mosman, Manly, Warringah and Pittwater to produce a seven minute film within 24 hours.
