Facade Improvement Scheme to continue


The City of Newcastle has approved a second round of the popular Façade Improvement Scheme offering grants to spruce up building facades in the Newcastle CBD.

The Façade Improvement Scheme is one of a number of projects that form part of the city’s revitalisation project and will help to make a demonstrated improvement to Newcastle’s city centre.

The scheme is a grant program jointly funded by The City of Newcastle and Newcastle NOW to assist building owners, commercial operators and others to improve their building facades.


Light rail to deliver vital jobs for Western Sydney


Parramatta City Council revealed final details on the first stage of a proposed Regional Light Rail Network to service the growing population of Western Sydney.

Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr John Chedid said Part Two of Council's $1 million Feasibility Study into a Western Sydney Light Rail Network had revised the estimated cost of delivering the project to $1.5 billion, for 30 kilometres of network and 21 light rail vehicles.


Melbourne: world’s most livable city again


Melbourne has been named the world’s most livable city by the Economist Intelligence Unit for the third year in a row.

The EIU Liveability Index is one the world’s most widely accepted rankings of livability, comparing 140 of the world’s major cities.

Other cities in the top five this year included Vienna, Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Adelaide.

 
Municipal Health Plan open for comment


The Geelong Council endorsed the draft Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 2013-2017 to be sent out for public comment.

The draft plan describes how the City will work to support the health and wellbeing of the Greater Geelong community for the next four years. It is a legislative requirement of the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
