SA’s Local Government Association has released its latest survey of Council CEO salaries which shows conservative growth of about 3% over the past four years – in line with SA Public Service CEO salary movements.

Independently prepared by AME Recruitment, the report indicates the growth in Council CEO salaries are below movements in both the private and not for profit sectors.

In providing the comparative information LGA CEO Wendy Campana emphasised that unlike many organisations, Council CEO salary information was publicly accessible in a register at each Council office.

“These salaries reflect the relative size and complexity of Council operations and the high standards and levels of public accountability expected of public bodies.”


Darebin City Council has received confirmation of a $1.85 million Australian Government funding grant to implement its energy efficient street lighting project, The Darebin Green Light Program.

“We are thrilled to have been granted $1.85 million in Australian Government funding for this large scale project which will deliver outstanding benefits to our community,” said Darebin Mayor Cr Tim Laurence.

The federal funding which has been offered though the Australian Government’s Community Energy Efficiency Program (CEEP) which will be matched by $2.5 million funding from Darebin Council over the next three years to implement the lighting project, estimated to cost a total of $4.35 million.

 
Geelong Region Innovation and Investment Fund

City of Greater Geelong Mayor Cr Keith Fagg has urged Geelong based businesses to apply for the first round of grants from the Geelong Region Innovation and Investment Fund.

“The fund, which was established in response to Ford Australia’s decision to cease local production, is an exceptional opportunity for local businesses seeking to expand or innovate,” said Cr Fagg.

Personal mobility devices allowed on bikeways and footpaths

Brisbane City Council wishes to advise residents and visitors to the city that as of 1 August 2013, personal mobility devices (PMD) will be permitted for use on footpaths, shared pathways and bikeways in Queensland.
